Default loved wintersday but...

was it really neccessary to make 17+ seperate items for the holiday? add that to my halloween items i collected and my storage vault is overfull. i already had one storage character and just had to retire a second character for storage. either that or my warrior has to carry his 4 weapon and armor sets himself. which would mean no more farming when i dont feel like pvping with it.

serious storage problems when you create collectible items in HUGE numbers like that.

Multiple accounts are love.

Three for me [mainly crafting supplies, way too many tanned hide squares]

something about this one didnt seem as fun as Halloween. Maybe because it seemed like the whole thing was very rushed, or that it didnt last as long.

And it could have been alot less Christmasy if it wasnt supposed to be Christmas. As cool as it was, Anet could have come up with alot more creative things for the Wintersday season.

Agree halloween was much better done.. The work and greed involved in even getting a few presents during the event was a joke. The presents should of rained down since they were weak little items like S sumoners and eggnog.

i think the problem with this event is that there wasnt an area for ppl to come together and party. During the Halloween event, most ppl tended to stand and dance on the "round green area" in LA and no one was around the Cauldron. During the Wintersday event, there was no such area to party on, well...as for the christmas tree in LA, from what i observed, it's just like the cauldron in Halloween, no one parties there. I definitely think if they establish a similar area like the "round green area" from Halloween...it might've brought more ppl together to party.

edited...becuz many ppl misunderstood me. I was not referring to the day of the final event (I know the number of ppl in LA is comparable to that of the Mad King event). I mean before and after the main event, go to LA and i bet u dont see that many ppl standing around, but back in the Halloween event, there are always ppl on that green area in LA partying.

the eggnogs, my man, the eggnogs!!

Sure, candy canes have a logical use, but there's nothing like stocking up on ales to mix with soon-to-be-added ales to get super-trippy effects.

I still have quite a few absinthes and witche's brews

And on the event being done sloppily.... You guys are crazy! Did you read the Wintersday Crier's messages even ONCE? It acurately counted down to the 31st, saying the voting was going to be taking place in LA.

The only downside was that there were 2 items and not enough events to cover all of your characters if you had a lot + got on late, that is to say, if you weren't in the know!

The way to get 1 of each of the items for 1 character at 1 showing of the avatars was to JUMP DISTRICTS very fast [as soon as the item appreared in your inventory].

although the FINALE was not as good as the halloween event, the overall amount of stuff to do more than makes up for it ie:

Decorative Theming
Quests
Item Collectors
Candycane weapons
Snowball Arena
Snowmen Henchies
Yule Hats / Reindeer Antlers

So for me Wintersday > Halloween.

And i believe Gaile mentioned something about a "Holiday Storage" for our storage worries.

the problem was there was a place for people to party and it was called out in the real world. 10 hours of new years eve partying or sitting in front of the pc?? no contest, oh and i even got my hat and antlers by leaving my pc on while out so its not a 'didnt get hat so have a go' post. probably delete them too as i dont like them as much as the pumpkin mask

Newbie here... I'm kinda curiuos on how long wintersday is going to last. I just discovered the eggnog has effects to it, and now i want to stock up on it. I'm just wondering how much time I have left to hoard the nescisary items to get the eggnog hehe.

Thanks in advance :-)

Hey! Let's give them some items!
-Too many items, we can't store them all!

Hey! Let's arrange a Grenth vs. Dwayna showdown!
-It should have lasted longer!

Hey! Let's drop around some presents that you can run to childen for fun!
-There should've been more presents!

Hey! Let's give them some new quests with good XP rewards!
-The quests were boring when I did them the 4th time!

Hey! Let's give them IDS!
-It's too far away, I can't get it! Wait, now I got it! You should have stopped the drops after Wintersday so that I could have sold it for 60k!

Hey! Screw this pointless crap and let's get back to making chapter 2 so we can at least cash in on their whining
-Why won't ANet ever do anything nice? I've played this game for 500 hours and it's boring already!

This is sarcasm, right? The Halloween goodies you got from trading with collectors or from participating in the final event. The Wintersday goodies you got from trading with collectors, from showing up for the final event, from playing "run the present" in any of three cities, or from playing in the snowball arena. Oh, those awful Anet people giving me extra goodies (for free!) just for playing the game. Oh, the agony and hard work of exploring the new content and having fun with it instead of being a glorified bot and farming Griffons or something.

Apparantly, you've answered your own question! That is, you thought these items are SO NEATO that you've pushed everything out of your storage to keep them. YOU thought it was necessary, otherwise you would have done what all the rest of us did and ditched absolutely everything except the barest exceptions.
The fact is that your overfull storage is a problem entirely of your own making. To retire a toon just to make more room is.. well.. bizzarre! And then to blame Anet for coming up with items you.. just... <ungh> ..can't seem... to.. .. let go of <trying to get rid of one item> reveals more about your own 'pack-rat'edness' and less about Anets ability to come up with items that are completely irresistable.
So here's a tip;
1. Go through all your toons and sell every primary weapon for each toon except two (ok, four is acceptable too).
2. Sell every off hand you have except two per (using) characters.
3. Go through the rest of your inventory and ask yourself; "Self? Do I need <such and such> item or do I just WANT <such and such> item?"
Need vs Want: If you have a killer bow (not as good as 2 other bows) that you never use then you don't NEED it.
Need vs Want: If you have event items (candy cane swords, pumpkin heads) that don't do ANYTHING for your game play or make your characters more effective.. get rid of it! (Unless of coarse you want to be the idiot that pops out with a pumpkin mask in May)
If you "want" something that you don't "Need", then only allow yourself 4 of these things per character.

Me? I don't have an inventory problem. But then again, I don't have a bag full of swords I'm never gonna use either;-)

Well to counter the complaint I have to say; good job ANet. The amount of work that went into the winterday thing overshadowed all they did on halloween by far and that was a great event.

I can't wait to see what else these people do for us.

I disagree with you infernal, people will keep items even if they don't use them because it may be worth something, or was hard to find. Something for a friend, or they are selling it. If someone told me to get rid of my stuff to fit in some hat, personally I would ditch the hat. I have a storage issue as well, most of my storage is Candy Canes, Candy Cane Shards, S Summoners, Eggnog, Spiked Eggnog, Candy Cane Weps, Antlers, Santa Hat.

However even though there is a problem with a very very bad storage system. (I mean runescape has more space then us! Then again, diffrent progammers diffrent people.) Just make some junk Char. to hold stuff for you and buy bags for them if needed. I personally keep my items on my other Char. if I find my storage is tight.

I think they should have a system that you can buy your storage spaces by the row, say 500gp each or something. Either that or just give us 150+ space... Long term players arn't going to ditch their rares to keep event items and most likley the events won't be a popular to long term players as they are to the new person.

I found the event boring, all you did was rush to a district to get either the Hat or Antlers, spend about 15 mins. waiting for the item while reading people swear and be a bunch of perverts. Goodness, if I showed some screen shots of some odd pm's I got they would speak for themselves. I enjoyed the time when the items came, but after that it was so dull... Just people either running around like crazy people showing off their hats (Like me!) or people swearing because they missed the last event time.

Pretty dreadful if you ask me, ANET needs people to be in the districts at the same time as these events to take out the garbage, for garbage I mean for those 20+ people swearing and typing things that make themselves look retarded.
